About Us

RICE Ghana
RICE Ghana– (Rural Initiatives for Community Empowerment- Ghana) is a registered local non-governmental organization that works directly with rural and underserved communities in the Northern, North East, and Upper West Regions of Ghana. Established in 2021, our goal is simple: to empower women, young people, and vulnerable groups to break the cycle of poverty and inequality through practical sustainable community-led initiatives. At RICE Ghana, we believe that true empowerment begins when women, girls and young women have a voice and that voice is heard where decisions are made. We actively work to increase the participation of women, girls, and young women in leadership, governance, and community decision-making through targeted interventions
RICE Ghana is duly registered under the laws of Ghana, in accordance with the Companies Act and social welfare regulations. The organization is recognized by:
- Registrar General’s Department
- Department of Social Welfare
- Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)
- Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection
We operate primarily in the Northern Region, North East Region, and Upper West Region of Ghana, working in rural and peri-urban areas where poverty, gender inequality, and climate risks intersect. Our development philosophy is rooted in the People-Owned Process (POP), a bottom-up participatory model that strengthens community ownership and resilience.
